A diverse and popular area with lots to do and see plus great access to Malaga airport.
Benalmádena is a municipality in the province of Malaga consisting of three main areas: Benalmádena Pueblo, Benalmádena Costa and Arroyo de la Miel.
It is just 12km from the centre of Malaga, between the popular towns of Torremolinos and Fuengirola. Thanks to a good train and bus network, you can even manage without a car if you buy a property in the Benalmádena Costa area. The train connects Benalmádena Costa with Malaga airport, Malaga City, Torremolinos and Fuengirola.
The area has grown rapidly in recent decades due to tourism and has become one of the Costa del Sol’s hottest holiday spots, as well as a favourite for foreign residents.
With a wide and varied array of activities, there’s no need to be bored when visiting Benalmádena, a town which is so much more than just a resort. Highlights include the award-winning Benalmádena Marina, with its bars, restaurants and family-friendly activities. Take a ride up the cable car for stunning views of the coast and activities such as a bird of prey show and star gazing, or visit the theme park Tivoli World nearby. The beautiful Paloma Park is a green oasis complete with birds, animals, a lake, play areas and lovely flowers and plants. You can also visit Selwo Marina, the Butterfly Park, and even the largest Buddhist Stupa in Europe, plus there’s even more to enjoy in nearby Fuengirola and Torremolinos.
Benalmádena has everything you need to live there all year round. It is popular with families and has several international schools and nurseries, as well as Spanish schools for all ages. The shopping is great too, with lots of supermarkets and independent food shops, banks, post offices, health centres, a hospital and more.
Benalmádena’s beaches are mainly centred around Puerto Marina. They vary from wide, sandy beaches, which are perfect for families, to more rocky beaches that are best suited for serious swimmers.
The three areas of Benalmádena are very different. The “pueblo” is a traditional Spanish village complete with white-washed houses and cobbled streets, whereas the coastal area and Arroyo de Miel has a more residential, urban feel. There are a wide range of property options for you to choose from in this popular area, from villas in the outskirts to apartments and townhouses more centrally and in the newer developments. Not to be missed: El Parque de la Paloma, the promenade and the pretty marina with lots of things to see and do.
