Casares has a lot to offer holiday makers and year-round residents alike, from a charming old village, to new golf developments and a pretty beachside area.
Casares is divided between “Casares Pueblo” up in the hills and “Casares Costa” down by the beach, with a golf course and lots of modern developments in-between.
Casares village is one of the prettiest on the Costa del Sol. The white-washed stony houses and narrowing streets, filled with fresh flowers, chapels and charming squares will leave you enchanted. As you wind your way through this traditional Spanish pueblo you will be transported back in time and enjoy panoramic views of the sea and your Mediterranean surroundings.
In recent years Casares village has become known for its wonderful restaurants and international gems such as Arroyo Honda and The Forge, both offering a really high standard gastronomy. These sit beside fantastic traditional “ventas” which are country style establishments serving hearty mountain fare. If you’re a foodie, you certainly won’t be disappointed. The Town Hall is constantly innovating and adding attractions such as a zipline down through the valley, alongside the many historical monuments and natural delights such the Roman baths and many hikes and trails. This really is a picture-perfect destination, away from the hustle and bustle, your own little Andaluz haven.
Heading down from the village to the beach, you will see modern developments on the left and right of the main road. These offer a wide range of properties for sale, with a good selection of apartments, townhouses and villas. There are also two great golf clubs, Casares Golf and the internationally renowned Finca Cortesin golf course.
Finca Cortesin offers some of the most beautiful properties in this area, alongside a 5-star hotel with Michelin-star restaurant, spa and stunning gardens.
Crossing over the motorway to the beach side, you will find yet more lovely developments with wonderful sea views and easy access to the beach, as well as some great bars, cafes and restaurants right on the sand.
The active Town Hall puts on lots of events and activities for Casares residents. There is a sports centre with tennis and padel courts which holds sports camps for kids during the school holidays. There are two schools up in the village and residents in Casares Costa can also choose from a number of well-regarded primary schools and a secondary school in nearby Manilva.
There are several good supermarkets and plenty of shops, banks and a post office in Sabinillas and you’re within easy reach of the busy and charming town of Estepona.
